I bought this for an upcoming trip to Europe. When i opened the package i was amazed by the quality. This was my first Arc’teryx purchase and will not be my last.
Jaime –
Warm, soft and comfortable all purpose fleece jacket.
Jbinnix –
Great fit and comfortable materials. I expect this hoodie will last a long time.
Jahellqu –
I had the older version of this fleece and had worn it until it was lost in a fire. Was a great piece of clothing, great for high output activists under shells and just as an extra added warmth layer when needed. Would recommend.
Mark –
I bought this hoody mainly for every day use around the town but quickly saw how robust and reliable it. Continued to use it daily, office, hike, ski days.
Bought another one!
Great mid layer and after almost two years still looks like new
Dal 1 –
my go to hoody mid layer in the cold stand alone top in the warmer weather excellent
Gin357 –
I bought this a week ago and it’s a loose fit very comfortable and love the colour, it’s the only brand I wear and I would recommend it to anyone everything is top of the range and doesn’t get effected in the wash
NiklasJB –
I bought this for fall and winter and was not disappointed. It’s tight without being particularly heavy and it’s one of the coziest pieces of clothing I’ve ever worn. Incredibly soft.
It is, of course, perfect as a midlayer, but it also works as an outer layer if it is not too cold. It blocks the wind better than I thought. Despite this, it breathes well and dries quickly. The hood fits tight, is very stretchy and fits under a helmet.
Not the cheapest fleece but it should last a long time.
Highly recommended!

I own three different colors of this hoody and I also own two versions of the lightweight one. Although I live in central Texas, the regular hoody is a staple for me at least from November through April. It’s so soft and comfortable and fits great! Versatile and works in a lot of different situations, including work.
Stvn –
I bought this as a lightweight layer for xc skiing and couldn’t be more satisfied. The panel construction lends very well to movement, the insulation is perfect for a mild winter day, and a fashion forward design on top of it.

I’ve had this hoody well over a year. I wear it as a standalone mostly in temps clear into the low 30’s(F). If there is precipitation and/or windy out, which would have a Real Feel of under 30F, I use a lightweight wind/water resistant shell like the Squamish Hoody. Would definitely recommend.

bought this a month ago and i’m happy with my purchase. provides warmth under my Beta AR without overheating in 5-15c but the fit is a bit awkward. Boxy in the chest area but short sleeves.

Super soft material, size small for me at 5’10. Love this hoodie, very light weight good on cool days or as a mid layer on colder days. Would buy again in different color.
KSJ53 –
Not as warm as the previous iteration of the Kyanite hoodie. The material is noticably thinner with a little less loft on the inside. The fit is also slightly looser on the small size, which is great as the previous iteration was too tight.

I love wearing my Kyanite hoody when I am active and it is going to be chilly. My Kyanite is warm, stretchy, versatile, comfortable and looks good.
I love wearing this as a mid-layer when snowboarding under a shell on days that are down to -10. The fleece gives sufficient warmth to trap heat and it is flexible that gives me the freedom to more. The fit hugs me well and I feel like it is a warm extension of my base layer. I will also use put on the hood as my balaclava under my helmet if I’m finding a bit cold and I’m already boarding.
This also acts as a great transitions piece. When you change from harsh climates to indoors can be jarring but this piece is great. I love wearing this when I have to go in to grab a bite after boarding. Also, I wear this piece in the car driving to mountain (Mount St. Louis for me).
I got my wife wearing this piece as well and she is obsessed with it too. We will be often wearing these pieces together. We are all both confident and feel good when we are wearing it.

So I got the kyanite fleece. Very nice and stretchy. Looks great in black sapphire (which is really just a dark navy blue).

This Hoody was a Christmas gift to myself. The heavy version of Kyanite is very warm. Sometimes i dont need any other jacket. When it is very cold i wear the Kyanite Hoody as a baselayer. Fleece is so comfortable for me.
The only minus is the quite high price.

Very nice

I’m 5′ 6″ and fit. Size SMALL fits perfectly for me; snug and I’m able to wear a long sleeve underneath. The material is stretchy and warm. I highly recommend.

This hoody is a mixed bag. On one hand it is certainly warm and great for hiking outdoors in cold temps. It fits good and is comfortable. The negatives are that it pills really badly. On the second time wearing it started to pill and after wearing it while on holiday for a week it is now all over. Really disappointing considering the price. I would expect it maybe with wearing a backpack against it but this was often just with a jacket over it so hard to understand how it can get so worn so quickly. I still rate the hoody as great for outdoors and warmth to weight ratio but would not buy another one from this range until the issue with pilling is addressed.
Tahoe_Skier –
Pretty much the perfect fleece hoody. I’ve been wearing fleece for decades. This is 10/10 is every way. The best I’ve ever had.

I purchased the kyanite vest a last year and was so amazed by both its comfort and versatility. It is the most comfortable fleece out there bar none!! It works really well as a stretchy mid layer. The fabric is warm and thin and the inside face is extremely soft.
This year I decided to purchased a hoodie version as well. Unfortunately some of the updates I’m not thrilled with. The new coil zippers “which always break” are small and get stuck and the zipper pulls are tiny and have strange elongated tips to them. The old version had the much stronger and smoother vislon styled zippers as well as rounded metal pulls with paracord extensions. The old combination was so much better.
I would also critique the side pockets. I can appreciate the effort to reduce weight and streamline the garment however the material for the welded seams is stiff and keep the pockets from laying flat. I would rather have the pockets sewn into the side seam like on the previous model.
Lastly I’d like to address the pilling of these garments. No doubt about it if these fabrics get pilling on them especially when exposed to strap, belts, rubbing or abrasive surfaces. But if used as a mid layer you can primarily mitigate that. With that being said, I would rather have this level of comfort, than to have a thicker anti-abrasive surface that makes the jacket stiffer and less comfortable.
Lastly bring back the olive/brown or similar earth tones.
Thanks for your continued efforts in making quality garments!

Love this jacket. Comfortable and warm. It is form fitting in a good way. Not overly snug.
GT H –
Most comfortable anything I have ever owned. I have 6 fleece and they are all mostly retired now, except for my lightweight Mountain Hardwear. I hit the trails 6 days a week and have used it every day out since late fall. Used as mid layer or top layer. As I also workout during hikes, I wash it weekly and have zero issues with stretching/ shrinking/ pilling. Love my Atom mid, but this beats it too.

This is the standard for a warm fleece hoody: zipper goes up to my chin; zippered pockets; NO drawstring-just a snug hoody. I can’t think of a CON except for price and that’s expected for this brand. A size S and I’m 5’6″, 160lbs; fits snug which is what I like.
